We’re here to amplify the voices of South African children and give them real influence over the issues that shape their lives. At RX Radio, 172 Child and Young Reporters, ranging from four to 18 years old, are already leading the way. Based at Red Cross Children’s Hospital, Paarl Hospital and Brooklyn Chest Hospital, they’re not just behind the microphone; they’re at the heart of everything we do.
From designing their own shows to choosing music, inviting guests, writing interview questions and even planning fundraisers, they drive the content. Behind the scenes, the RX Radio team, volunteers and former reporters offer training and support, but the children take the lead. In fact, we’re proud to be one of the world’s first radio stations with children broadcasting from inside a hospital.
